A Reflection on Communion and the Resurrection of the Body of Jesus
Luke 22:19
ESV (emphasis added)
“And he [Jesus] took bread, and when he had
given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying,” This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of
me.”
We
are inclined to move away from death or not come face to face with a lifeless
body in a solid state of existence. We do
not like the unpleasant feeling when around death.
However, the only way to be
righteous before the heavenly Father and become a citizen of the kingdom of God
is to be free from the corruption of this world in mind, soul, body, and
spirit. Our fundamental nature and
lifeblood must be purged of sin from the physical to the subatomic level and
into the deepest part of our spiritual being.
On a Passover, centuries ago, Jesus
began His journey to atone for the sins of mankind. His body was prepared
before He appeared on Earth for this mission. He
transitioned into the unseen realm through a body in its solid state. Jesus
died — no life, no
moving parts.
SOLID STATE
· The state
of matter in which materials are not fluid but retain their boundaries without
support, the atoms or molecules occupying fixed positions with respect to one
another and unable to move freely (Sold State Definition)
· At its
most basic level, means “no moving parts” (TECHTERM SOLD STATE DEFINITION)
We eat the communion bread to remember
it was His body that was hung on the cross, purging our sins. His love wrapped
around planet Earth and absorbed all the sins of the world. His body absorbed and
trapped the power of sin forever. Sin and its offspring were transported to the
pit of hell. One body for the world was the only sacrifice of flesh required
for the salvation of mankind. One Man paid the price for every sin committed on
the earth in the past, present, and future.
Nevertheless, Rejoice! Something happened to Jesus at
the end of the sacrificial process. Our wonderful, beautiful Savior emerged
from His holy ashes. No one in heaven or
hell had seen a transmutation process from one holy being into another. Transmute is to
change or alter in form, appearance, or nature, especially to a higher form. (Transmute)
Jesus’ power and essence that existed before time
began came alive into a new man — a new creation, reborn to be what had never
been before. A unique kind of flesh was ready to be presented to the heavenly
Father in victory. Jesus is the Savior and King for the people on the earth who
would be reborn.
Jesus, a new life force, ascended from the innermost
parts of the earth and wrapped His love around the planet again. This time He infused
the world with the message that a new life force is available to all who look
to Him and believe in salvation and transformation. For those who believe, the world changed when
Jesus rose from death many years ago.
A new approach to pursue a godly lifestyle is now in
place, along with the power of Holy Spirit defending, sustaining, supporting,
and upholding us. At this moment, anyone can become righteous before the Father
and receive a new heart governed by Holy Spirit [John 3:5-8).
We no longer work to establish righteousness by doing good
deeds or practicing rituals that do not change the heart. We, the people who
follow Jesus’s commandments, are unique people. Our old self has passed away. Our
new self is now eternal and focused on pleasing our Heavenly Father. We are new
creations reunited in spirit with our Creator.
For the reborn people of God, death is only the means
of spiritual transportation from the physical world to the spiritual world,
where our Father and Jesus, our King, reside. Death’s
mission for believers has changed from pain to glory. We leave this world with no moving parts and
are transformed and energized to ascend into the Father’s heavenly love.
